'Dancing Across the Border' is an exchange between Asad Ali Zulfiqar, a new media artist from Pakistan, and Mandeep Raikhy, a choreographer from India, across a border they cannot physically cross. By inviting Chimère, a multi-modal AI, and Jonathan O’Hear, a visual artist, into the conversation, a layer of fictive-reality is added to the exchange. In response to the violent legacy of the Partition of 1947 that informs their family histories, visa regimes, the divisive politics of the current times and the escalating tensions between their countries, they propose a language for queer intimacy that pushes against the boundaries delineated by their nations and artistic disciplines.
